Becoming a Quality Professional
You can become a fully qualified Quality Professional by joining the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) as either a Student or Affiliate member and with the help of our courses, work your way up to full Chartered Quality Professional status and beyond by using the David Hutchins International Quality College CQI approved course structure.
About the CQI
The CQI celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. In the early part of its history, it, together with other globally recognised Quality Professional Bodies was one of the founding members of the Global Quality Movement including the European Organisation for Quality (EOQ). As a consequence, it hosted the World Quality Congress held at the Brighton Pavilion in 1982 and again in Harrogate in 2002. The Institute was granted its Royal Charter in 2006
With 18,000 members in 100 countries, the CQI is the partner of choice for quality management practitioners and, through its International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) certification, it also supports the career development of systems audit professionals.
It is the only professional Institute that can award the coveted, Chartered Quality Professional status. And its independence, global perspective and cross-sector outlook makes it a trusted advisors to the UK and international Quality communities, industry and practitioners.
The Royal Charter
The CQI was granted Royal Charter in 2006, having demonstrated pre-eminence, public interest, stability and permanence. This was followed in 2007 by the power to confer individual Chartered status for quality management professionals.
The CQI connection with David Hutchins International Quality College
David Hutchins also celebrated his 50th Anniversary of membership of the CQI in the same year that CQI celebrated its 100th. At the ceremony he was given an Honorary Award for outstanding Achievement.
For the first 10 years of David’s membership he was a member of the Institute’s Education Committee whilst Director of the Quality and Reliability Courses at Slough College of Technology.
Following that he represented the Institute for 6 years as its representative and was the Chairman of the EOQ Human Factors Committee.
At other times he was variously a member of the CQI Professional Services Committee, Chairman of the Editorial Board, member of the Nominations Committee and also the Advisory Board to the Trustees. David was also a member of the Papers selection committee for the World Quality Congress in Harrogate 2002.
As a consequence of this history, all DHI students are encouraged to become members of the CQI as soon as they join us. The benefits of membership are considerable as the CQI has an extensive library of relevant learning materials available to all of its members.
Progress through its membership grades can be achieved through all of our courses. For example:
On completion of this 5 Unit Course the successful student can upgrade their membership to Practitioner status provided they can demonstrate two years experience in the Quality related Scientists and disciplines.
Following the successful completion of unit five, presentation of the 5 completed assignments will enable the student to gain Practitioner status. The 5 assignments are the demonstration of the relevant experience.
On completion of the full 9 units the successful student can be awarded full Chartered Professional Status.
Higher Diploma in Quality Leadership
The successful completion of this qualification would stand the student in good stead to apply for an upgrade to the coveted Fellow Grade of Membership.
