Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification

Getting started with Lean Six Sigma.

Our Yellow Belt is covered in the first four units of our Quality Fundamentals course.   An online course, the student will learn the skills and tools to make improvements to any process and apply the principles to day-to-day operations and activities.   This course has everything you need to make a positive start in your studies. The course is broken down into bite sized sections with a short quiz at the end of each section. Designed to be viewed from either PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone, you can study any time of day and pick up from where you left off.

Who should do the course?

DHI’s online Yellow Belt is designed for all levels of the organisation and all levels of academic ability. It is intended for the entire payroll from the CEO through to line personnel.

The course structure

Working step by step through the business performance unit, the student will identify real problems in their work and identify real theories of causes and test the theories.    From this they can identify the true causes of real problems, often those that impact heavily on the organisation’s performance.

Following on, we teach students how to identify possible solutions to real problems, test the solutions, find the best and then implement them.  Students will learn how to present their solutions to their managers and peers.   This way they do not have to attempt to make the intellectual link between a fantasy case study and their real world.

At the end of the Quality Fundamentals Unit 4, students are awarded a ‘Six Sigma Yellow Belt’ certificate of completion.

What’s covered?

Using the online platform, students will learn the eight principles of Six Sigma based quality management.  With the Yellow Belt course,

  • You will learn how to define an improvement project,

  • You will test and implement potential improvement solutions and sustain the improvements you make.

Six Sigma Tools

  • Students will learn how a process is performing:   Flowcharts, Measures, Histograms, Control Charts and Capability.

  • Understand a Six Sigma process map – inputs and outputs. Gap analysis.

  • Learn how to define a project: Chartering, Forming Teams and SIPOC

  • Investigate root causes: Introduction to Root Cause Analysis:  Cause/Effect techniques, Pareto, Scatter Diagrams, 5 Whys

  • Apply the Fishbone Diagram to the project

  • How to present results to teams.

  • Test the theories of causes – data collection and analysis.   Study potential solutions: Idea Generation, PDCA, and Control Charts.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (which is the second stage in the Lean Six Sigma levels) is contained in our Diploma in Quality Leadership. The Diploma is a 9 unit course where the student is required to write a report to his/her Chief Executive on whatever differences there may be with the ideas in the topics in the sections and what changes might the organisation make as a consequence. This approach follows through all units so when the course is finished and the student has their Diploma, they will also have a complete implementation plan for their organisation and they will have covered the content of the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.

The course uses webinars and e-Learning to ensure a firm grasp of the Lean Six Sigma methodology, tools and techniques.   Students wishing to qualify for Six Sigma Green Belt as well as achieve the Diploma will be required to conduct an additional assignment in the form of a Green Belt project resulting in tangible quality cost reduction or an equivalent performance improvement following Dip 004. DHI will help you to identify a Six Sigma improvement project which will focus on your place of work.   The project will allow you to put the techniques learned into practice.     The Green Belt certification will require you to recruit a mentor who will oversee the project.

What is covered:

At thls level, you understand advanced analysis and can resolve problems that affect quality. Green Belts take the lead in projects and assist Black Belts with data collection and analysis by deploying process mapping, risk management and bench marking.

At the end of the Six Sigma Green Belt training, you will be able to:

·         Lead and implement Lean Six Sigma projects in the organisation

·         The course will show you how to apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)

·         Describe how to identify an improvement project in the Define phase

·         Explain how to measure current performance

·         Perform data analysis and hypothesis testing in the Analyze phase

·         Identify possible process improvement actions and challenge current practices.

·         Define efficient operating levels for inputs and outputs in the Control phase

·         Use DFSS tools such as: Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Risk Priority Number (RPN).

Who should do the course?

The Green Belt course is suitable for anyone who is looking to drive business solutions and take on quality projects.
