David Hutchins (Principal of DHI, Tutor and Consultant)

Following a career in Industrial and Production Engineering in the Automotive and Printing machinery sectors, resulting in the position of Works Manager, David moved into education and consultancy in 1969 primarily to stimulate a response from British manufacture to the growing challenge from Japan. He organised the first ever seminar in the UK entitled Total Quality Control in 1973. Established his own consultancy, education and training organisation in 1975, was responsible for the inspiration and organisation of the epoc making event The Japanese Approach to Product Quality held at the Institute of Directors in 1979 at which Professor Ishikawa made his one and only ever visit to the UK and Europe. Since then David Hutchins has continued to pursue and confirm his beliefs in an approach to the achievement of Quality Excellence through people involvement and empowerment as opposed to the short sighted conformance route. David Hutchins was commissioned to design the CQI Level 3 Certificate in Quality Management, the CQI Level 5 Diploma in Quality Management and associated courses.

David has implemented Quality Circles into a regional organisation of the British Ambulance service and to Etisalat, the sole Telecommunications company in the Arab Emirates. Author of 9 best selling books on quality-related topics including, Quality Beyond Borders, Quality Circles, Hoshin Kanri, TQM and Just in Time.


Proudest achievements:

1) To single handedly provide outside assistance to a major British Aircraft Manufacturer when accused of being a British Government owned 'lame duck'. Achievement: turning a net profit of over £45m just two years after making consistent losses for the preceding 15 years.

2) Assisting a 3m tonnes a year steel producer to increase production to 4m tonnes pa with virtually no additional capital investment & saving over $220m in just 3 years with an accrued annual saving of $69m per year.

Kola Olutimehin (Executive Director & Consultant)

An astute professional, Kola has consulted internationally for a wide variety of clients (from small/medium sized companies to blue-chip multinationals) in diverse industries for almost three decades, primarily in Europe and Africa. He has provided guidance to senior executives with respect to the management of change which encompasses its entire cycle, as well as business process re-engineering via various methodologies that contribute to enhanced bottom line results. The organisation he founded, MakeWay Global (www.makewayglobal.com), has its focus on the provision of management consulting, training and coaching.

Kola is also an accredited and certified trainer for training courses within his areas of expertise. His proficiency extends to leadership and management; quality enhancement; process efficiency; programme/project management; and business analysis, to name but a few. A Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and director of the International Lean Six Sigma Institute (www.ilssi.org), he has made significant contribution to productivity within some of the organisations that he has worked with.

Also known as getKOLA (www.getkola.com) amongst his international speaking audience, Kola’s ability to communicate with many types of people of different cultures is remarkable. An engaging speaker, he is a popular choice at conferences and keynote addresses at major corporate events globally. His audience includes company executives, management and staff, as well as entrepreneurs and business owners, all who find it practical to relate with Kola’s talks. A radio and TV show guest-presenter, his extensive travel around the globe on speaking and training engagements has enabled him to garner experience that benefits his listeners.

A highly versatile individual, Kola is also a prolific writer, who has published a number of books. His flagship book, Dream and Achieve (https://www.getkola.com/books/dreamandachieve/), has its Introduction written by the Napoleon Hill Foundation (Napoleon Hill authored Think and Grow Rich, an international classic first published in the USA in 1937). Another one of his books, ‘Effective Change: the route to desired results’, discusses the management of change and delves into how one deals with the acceptors and resisters of change.

Kola is a co-author of Indelible Footprints – a book that chronicles the 50-year institutional biography of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). In addition, he is a serial author in ‘The Making of an Icon’ series, having innovatively co-authored the autobiographies of eminent personalities, extracting principles that may be learnt from their lives, in what he has termed, the Iconic Principles. Kola founded MakeWay Books (https://makewaybooks.com), a 3-pronged approach to: getPUBLISHED, getPRINTING, and getBOOKS for publishing, printing and sales respectively.

Kola is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom, and has acquired a good number of internationally accredited certifications in the management of change.

Mike Hutchins (Tutor, Consultant)

A Chartered Accountant/CPA and Certified Co-Active Coach with 15 years consulting experience, specialising in Change and Project Management, Financial Management/ ERP implementations, Employers include AECOM (3 years) PwC and IBM BCS (8 years). Atos KPMG Consulting (2 years), worked in a variety of industries including Defense and the Government Sector.

Mike is a CPA/Chartered Accountant with 20 years international consulting experience. His expertise is in managing large global change programmes for clients such as Vodafone, Cemex and Wolseley. He has worked in multiple industries, including Telecoms, Automotive, US Federal Government Contracting, Logistics and Distribution, Manufacturing, Retail, Healthcare and Financial Services.

Mike is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and has designed numerous successful BPR programmes. He is a Certified Co-Active Coach. He is certified in numerous 360 assessment tools such as the Leaderhip Circle Profile. In his spare time Mike likes to do Stand Up, Acting and Improv and is fascinated about how this can be applied to the business world.

Mike Debenham (Trainer, Consultant)

BSc (Civil Engineering); Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Quality Professional, Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute (FCQI), Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE)

Mike was previously Executive Director for Policy and Professional Affairs at the CQI. Having been part of the quality profession for some forty years, he has authored and launched a number of CQI training courses, e.g. Process design and performance improvement, Problem solving using root cause analysis and others. He also project managed the development of the CQI’s body of quality knowledge, the website knowledge hub and qualifications such as the new Chartered Quality Professional qualification.  

Throughout his career he has had the privilege of delivering CQI and other quality-related training courses for The UN Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons; SERCO; Coca Cola Enterprises; Siemens Shared Services, USA; Babcock International; Balfour Beatty; The Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd; The UN Logistics Base, Brindisi, Italy; The UK Ministry of Defence, Bath and The Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria, BHP Petroleum, Melbourne; GEC Alsthom Signalling Ltd, UK; Woodside Offshore Petroleum, Perth, Australia; Santos, Adelaide; Sydney Ports Authority; The Electricity Corporation of New Zealand; Conoco Norway Inc; the EU experimental nuclear research laboratory, the Safety Technology Institute at Ispra, Italy and others.

John Dansey (Tutor)

John has been involved in Quality as a manager, trainer and consultant for over 45 years and in that time he has assisted organisations to achieve compliance to a variety of standards. He has assisted organisations in diverse industries such as the Car Industry, Poultry Processing, Dairy, Bakery and Coffee Processing where he has been involved in implementing ISO 9001 and The British Retail Consortium – Global Standard for Food Safety including HACCP- and has implementedISO/IEC 17025 in DNA, Chemical and Forensic Laboratories and the Aeronautic Industry Standard AS9100. He as been the Lead Tutor on 140+ Lead Auditor and Auditor courses in over 24 countries and has been with a Third Party Assessment body.
